How many times have you sat there and told yourself I need to stop smoking? If youre like most smokers, youve told yourself this about a million times. However, quitting isnt as easy as it was starting. When asked my why they started smoking in the first place, many state that it was the cool thing to do as a kid. Some have stated they started smoking as early on as 10 years of age. Amazing! Weve seen the side affects of smoking such a lung cancer, emphysema, and constant coughing. What most people dont realize is that smoking is an addiction. Sure it may not be methamphetamines or marijuana but the addiction to nicotine is just as severe. Nicotine is a drug and as with any drug it uses makes you want continue to use it over and over again. A lot of people say they cant quit. They say the withdrawal symptoms are just unbearable. Withdrawal symptoms can include:
Mood Swings
Excessive Eating
Weight Gain
Anxiety
The nicotine in a person system increases the heart rate, flow of blood and even your blood pressure. So again you ask yourself, Why should I stop smoking? Well how about because smoking is considered one of the leading contributors to heart attacks. It contributes to the hardening of the arteries.
Many wonder if there is a stop smoking program that will truly work for them. The answer is yes if you want it to. These programs are out there to assist you in letting go of that nicotine addiction and moving forward with your life smoke free. However, you have to really want to quit in order for it to work. Will power is huge is making this decision to stop smoking. Its a decision that will change your life. Many who have gone through a stop smoking program and succeeded in that program have said they feel a lot better than they did before. The can breathe better and they are not as tired as they once were. They admit that it was a challenge to quit and it was even bigger challenge to stick with the program. In the end though they all say it was well worth is. Their life meant more to them than that cigarette they thought they needed. In the end, they didnt need it as much as they thought they did. Its like a mind game. Only when you decide to stop smoking, you have to tell your mind thats it, no more. Success all depends on your state of mind. Theres bound to be a program out there that will fit you and your lifestyle. Its a big decision but one that is well worth it.
