Relieving Heartburn Nausea

Have you ever felt so uncomfortable in your chest area that you felt that you were going to be sick to your stomach? Ever felt like the heat and pressure in your throat was going to cause you to throw up violently? If so, then you may have been experiencing heartburn nausea, a condition that affects thousands of people each year. Millions of dollars are spent annually on attempting to relieve the symptoms of heartburn nausea and much productive time is lost attempting to cope with the condition and stop heartburn that is causing it.

Heartburn nausea is exactly what it sounds like, nausea brought on by a severe case of heartburn. The pressure caused by the expanding gasses and high concentration of acid in the stomach makes the person feel ill, like they are going to throw up everything that they have eaten or drank that day. In some cases, the person will try to burp to relieve the pressure of the gasses in their stomach and will feel the contents of their stomach coming up in their throat a short ways. This is the body’s way of trying to rid itself of items that are irritating it, such as the high concentration of acid that is causing the heartburn.

Techniques For Relieving The Symptoms

Relieving heartburn nausea can be tricky because you will want to relieve the symptoms of the condition without causing yourself to throw up. Some people may recommend lying prone for a period of time, but this does very little to actually reduce the acid in the stomach and may cause you to throw up as soon as you sit upright. Other people may recommend drinking some water to reduce the amount of acid in the stomach, but the water may make you feel worse before it makes you feel better and the feeling of the water hitting your stomach may trigger vomiting as your body attempts to rid itself of the water.

Once the heartburn nausea has triggered vomiting, it is very hard to stop. Often, the person will continue vomiting until the stomach is completely empty. Although you may begin to feel better after you have thrown up, the goal is to avoid throwing up at all because repeating vomiting can harm the body. The best technique for relieving heartburn nausea is to take a mild over the counter medication that is designed to relieve the symptoms associated with condition. Many of these medications are specially formulated to not irritate the stomach further and will suppress the nausea while reducing the concentration of acid in the stomach.
